My new article on two conspiracy theorists who vandalized an Egyptian pyramid, with a closer look at their nonsensical claims: “Suggesting that people from Plato’s Atlantis built the pyramids is like saying people from Tolkien’s Middle Earth built the pyramids, or inhabitants of Superman’s home planet of Krypton built the pyramids — it makes no sense, because they’re fictional characters.”
You can read the story HERE.
I’m interested in this story especially as you say “(Ancient-astronaut theorists propose, unscientifically, that extraterrestrials intelligently designed humans.)” I too have a friend who believes this theory and now has me reading ‘scientific’ books about it. Well I suppose archaeological books actually. There is a whole series but the one he gave me to read is called ‘When time began’. The author is Sitchen (Zaccharia – I think). Do you know his books? It really is very interesting but I personally do not have a problem in believing that we evolved alongside the great apes. I think this theory is salve to ego’s that do not want to believe that we are descended from chimps. I always reassure them that we are not. In fact the chimps and us both descended from a common ancestor some millennia back. This does not help them, they don’t like to think of us as part of the animal kingdom. I don’t understand that.
